The minimal surfboard is the perfect beginner to intermediate board. Plenty of volume and width means this board will pick up and paddle easily and get you into plenty of waves. Then when your up and riding, it provides a stable and forgiving base in all types of smaller surf.

The best size for a lighter surfer would be a 7’6″as it will be easier to handle in the water, and as weight to volume on a minimal is relative, this would be the equivalent to a larger board for a heavier surfer.
